PURPOSE

IT IS THE GOAL OF THE Seminole County Council of PTAs to award scholarships to students on the basis of financial need and academic performance.

 

The scholarship award may be used at the following Florida public institutions: (a) Vocational/Technical School (b) Junior/Community College (c) Four-year College or University.

 

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must:

(1) Be attending a Seminole County high school and have been in attendance no less then six months prior to submitting application.

(2) Submit application, copy of most current tax return (student and parents), reference letters and transcripts, to the Seminole County Council PTA no later than midnight, April 18, 2008

(3) Have applied to be a full time student in a Florida Vocational/Technical School (2.0 GPA minimum), Junior/Community College (2.5 GPA minimum) or four-year College or University (3.0 GPA minimum).

(4) Financial needs: Explain in detail the reasons why financial assistance is needed. (Example: Type of family hardship or any other specific circumstances).

(5) Submit SAT or ACT scores, if applicable.

NOTE: FINANCIAL NEED WILL BE CONSIDERED

 

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS

The number and the amount of scholarships are contingent upon donations made to Seminole County Council for this purpose.

 

All scholarship funds will be paid directly to the institution where the recipient enrolls. Recipients must maintain a satisfactory academic standing to remain eligible for the scholarship funds. All funds not utilized will be returned to the SCCPTA.

 

STEPS IN APPLYING

               (1) Type or print application. Be sure to answer all questions.

(2) Enclose the following items in the exact order listed below, in a large manila envelope.

                               A. Application Form

                               B. Copy of most recent tax returns (parents & student)

C. Transcript (Official transcripts of grades nine through twelve)

D. Essay

E. SAT or ACT scores

F. Two letters of reference (one from principal, guidance counselor, classroom teacher or occupational specialist and one from a community member)

(3) Mail the application to the SCCPTA Scholarship Committee (address below) no later than midnight, April 18, 2008

(4) Transcript, scores and reference letters must be sealed in separate envelopes, but must be in the exact order as requested above and included in the large envelope in order for your application to be considered.

DATE OF NOTIFICATION

The scholarship recipient will be notified as soon as possible. No other acknowledgments will be made.
